Moose Jaw real estate can be a great example of flexibility and solid application of good practices. It may not be the most hectic market out there, but there is a lot to learn from the level-headed approach local agents have to their trade. We spoke with Derek McRitchie, broker and owner of 4th generation family business Ottawa Real Estate Co. His brokerage has been serving Moose Jaw and its surroundings since 1910, and his insights have truly universal appeal. Ottawa Real Estate Co also sells insurance and online vehicle registrations.
What do you love most about your job?
In our office we do many different things… however the real estate side of our business is fun because it gets you out of the office. You get to meet new people every day and see new houses, farms or commercial buildings all the time! So the people, and the chance to see all types of real estate – this is what I love most about my job.
What are the best places to retire in Moose Jaw?
The nice thing about Moose Jaw is it’s geographically pretty small and it’s easy to get from one side of town to the other. Typically, we see that clients who are retiring will move to condos like Lynbrook Condos if they want more space and double garages. Alternatively, they may move to apartments around Crescent Park, like Park Avenue and Athabasca Tower, because they are close to Downtown. These apartments also have elevators and heated parking!
